Allington Family Farm - The Next Step

Donation protected

‘All big things have small beginnings. The seed of every habit is a single, tiny decision’ (James Clear, Atomic Habits).

Our mission is to produce food, using ethical and sustainable farming methods, connecting our customers to the food that they consume and whilst doing so, changing the way that agriculture and food are thought about in a more positive, transparent and open light.

In the past three years since we began Allington Family Farm, we have already achieved so much more than we had ever dreamed of! We have managed to kick so many goals and raise our production numbers to meet increasing demand.

All of our land is currently lease land, and whilst this has given us so many opportunities that otherwise we wouldn’t have had, we also need to own our own land. But this is a process - we aren’t in a position currently to only think about just owning land as we also need a home!

And we’ve found the farm!! A beautiful 26 acres - providing us with enough land to have some livestock on, whilst also allowing us to build other aspects of us business (yes - we will have accommodation!) and for us to build equity in property so that from there, we can hopefully secure more land in the area in the future.

Our aim is that the farm will be giving back to the local community and the environment whilst also restoring the farm to its former glory. We want this to be a place where people can come and escape to, and also learn more (think farm school holiday camps for young people for example), where people can access quality food from farmers they know and trust (think on-site farm shop) - and so much more!!

There are also a few other considerations: we need to re-fence the property as the existing fencing is not suitable to keep sheep in, which obviously comes at a cost - although we will do the work ourselves, materials aren’t cheap. We will also need to install water tanks and hopefully one day solar power to make the farm as eco-friendly as possible.

And as far as the accommodation goes - we have HUGE plans! An old dairy and hay shed still stand on the property, full of rich history and made with the most beautiful wooden posts and beams. However, it needs renovating to release it to its full potential; and in return creating an enchanted retreat, for you to escape to, surrounded by native bush and farm land.

So now, we just need your help to make all of these dreams become reality! We have been blessed with some incredible financial support, to help us get to where we are right now. However, we would love your support, no matter how small, to become an integral part of our community & history to help us raise the money that we need for this next step. We believe that through faith, anything is possible - and we are believing now that the seeming impossible can become possible!

We are so incredibly grateful for all the support we have received over the last few years and know that it takes a community to make big dreams happen. As a way of giving back in the future, we'd like to offer a free night’s accommodation to anyone who gifts over $500 and helps support our vision.

We will also be creating a beautiful plaque which will be placed in a significant location on the farm, naming everybody who wishes to be named as a thank you to all of you. Furthermore, we will be hosting a big Farm Open Day, with BBQ (featuring our meat of course), live music and a great time especially for our community of supporters! We can’t wait to share our dream with you all and welcome you to the farm!
