Alleigh Strong
Don protégé

Recently, Alleigh was diagnosed with T-lymphoblastic lymphoma. This cancer is a very rare subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. While vacationing with her family, Alleigh was having difficulty breathing during the night. She was rushed to the emergency room and was started on antibiotics and steroids for possible pneumonia. Later on, during vacation, Alleigh's symptoms improved but her mom found a lump in her neck. When they returned home from vacation, Alleigh was taken to her family doctor and an x-ray was done. A large mass was found in her chest. She was sent immediately to Blank Children's Hospital Emergency Room. After further testing, Alleigh was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. A biopsy was taken on Tuesday, which confirmed her diagnosis of cancer. As of now, Alleigh will undergo chemotherapy. Although the doctors are optimistic, Alleigh, and her family, have a long fight ahead of them. The doctors predict this process will take about two years.
When I think of Alleigh's situation, I immediately think of the quote "God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers." As Alleigh's second grade teacher, I know that cancer doesn't stand a chance against her strong and persistent personality. She is a fighter, she is a warrior, she is a soldier, and she is tough. I have no doubt in my mind that she will be ordering the doctor's around by the end of her time at the hospital! :)
Please consider donating to Alleigh's fight to beat cancer. These funds will assist her family as they pay for Alleigh's medical expenses at Blank Children's Hospital. Thank you.
