Allayna Woods taken far too soon

Donation protected
My heart feels so heavy. Words can’t express my sadness, but I am compelled to help in any possible way I can. Late last night just before 2 am the unthinkable happened to the woods family. A fire began within the family's home while the mother of three young children slept. She awoke in horror to flames and smoke and her son covered in burns. While getting him to safety she ran for help from family living close by. The fire was out of control at this time while the mother and sister-in-law fought to get inside to help the 2 other children trapped inside they broke every window out room by room searching and pleading for the children. When they got to the back of the house and heard the baby gasping out for help they began to beat the window and climb the side of the house to get the child out of the burning building. The mother with the help of her sister-in-law a chair and unimaginable courage lept into the smoke-filled room. The mother was able to get to the youngest child and shortly after collapsed from the heat and the inability to breathe. The mother pleaded for help because she couldn't breathe or find her way back to the window. She was grabbed and yanked out of the window and danger by the sister-in-law and the baby had some burns but was breathing. The father was not home he had taken an extra shift at work to help with holiday expenses. This has been unbearable for him and he is currently at the hospital supporting his wife and children.

Currently, the mother and two surviving children are at the burn center at chapel hill receiving care for multiple injuries. The eldest daughter Allayna Woods passed away during this horrific struggle to save the children. Allayna was 6 years old she would be turning 7 on the 12th of January. Allayna was excited about Christmas and a school play. Never one not showing off her beautiful smile and angelic witty sense of humor. I can't begin to explain the sadness our family feels over the loss of Allayna a.k.a LULU.

I have started this gofundme to help with the funeral costs and the loss of the woods family's home. A family's possessions being taken a few days before Christmas is horrible but to lose a child and have injuries such as burns received by all the survivors is unthinkable. The recovery of the woods family will take time, money and support. I'm reaching out to any who can help support the woods family and help ease the agony of losing Allayna.

With all of the love and support constantly rolling in and so many wanting to help in any way they can. I have decided to raise the goal for a second time. When starting this fundraiser I had no idea it would do as well as it has. Thank you so very much to everyone who has donated, shared, and sent prayers to support our family. With so many wanting to help with donations such as clothes and household items and such we as a family we are currently trying to come up with a plan on how to gather and store these items until they are needed upon leaving UNC's burn unit. God bless and I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.
