GoFundMe Account - Allan Hamlett – Stage 4 Lung Cancer
I John 4:4 Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Greater than cancer, Greater than anything this world can throw at us including death.

This GoFundMe Account will help relieve some of the stress of Financial obligations for Gela and Allan at this time. So Please, Pray and ask God how you can help. We may not be able to help them physically....but we can help financially.   Many have said....what can we do to help....this is how we can help.

I would like to do something to help my cousin Allan and Gela Hamlett...Allan was diagnosed May 2019 with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. He wasn’t having any symptoms and once he was diagnosed...it was so advanced. The doctors were optimistic that they could put it in remission. He started chemotherapy and immunotherapy with radiation to follow. After many treatments, the doctors were still very optimistic, they were pleased with how he tolerated treatments; his weight and blood work were holding steady, they were also very supportive of Allan going on short term disability so they felt like that was the right decision. The big news was his PDL1status. It must be positive for the gene/immunotherapy to be effective - his was 90% positive which is "strongly positive" praising God for this news - this would be huge in determining if or how long he stays in remission.

But Allan and Gela have had such a Strong Faith in God that He has walked with them every step of the way on this battlefield. As she has said, ‘We know our God is able and we will give Him the glory.. this is hard, it's hard every day to get up and give it to God, we are living and loving each and every day.’

They have said many times, ’You don’t know how good God is until the bad things come into your life, then you get to experience God as you never have....people have mentioned that we are strong, they could not be more wrong. We are nothing, it is God that holds us up and any strength we display is from Him not us.’ WHAT A TESTIMONY!!

I am posting a timeline below for you to see a glimpse of the struggles they have been enduring. But through it all...They have given God all the Glory....What a testimony their sweet family has been to the rest of us.

When you have cancer, you pray to walk in and hear that it's gone. That is not the road God has laid out for us. Six months ago, we were told "we can’t cure it but hopefully we can control it." Well I am HAPPY & THANKFUL to report the last scan showed no new lesions and the existing tumors were stable. God is teaching us to trust Him each day and live in His grace. Like the lamb who strayed, the Shepard broke his leg and then carried it across His shoulders until it was healed. God has slung us across His shoulders.

Allan Hamlett will be having brain surgery tomorrow afternoon. This afternoon he went to put on his house shoes and couldn't move his right leg at all and very limited movement in his right arm. He has 2 extremely small lesions on his brain. One of them is bleeding, they think they can remove that one in its entirety and that will resolve the symptoms. The other one is so small; radiation should handle it. We ask that you pray for God to reach down and touch Allan, to guide the surgeon's hands. I ask that you pray for my children, Gerald (Allan’s dad) and Easton (grandson).

Things have moved rapidly and in different directions the last 24 hours. Yesterday morning I became concerned because he was having difficulty doing mundane tasks, we came to ER and confirmed the tumor that was left in his brain had started to bleed. He had a routine MRI late Friday afternoon and late last night we learned the MRI Friday showed 5 new tumors had developed in the 15 days since surgery. After a few tears, a lot of prayers and a meeting with our care team we have the following plan.. Allan will have 13 whole brain radiation treatments to treat the existing tumors that we know about and the host of others that are too small to show up. They will undoubtedly return, and they can do 13 one more time. This will be the only treatment moving forward. We trust God for Allan's future; Allan wants to feel good and make wonderful memories. Pray for us as we enter this new phase of treatment. No one knows how much time they have and we plan on living and loving every single day. Please continue to hold our children, Gerald and Easton close in your heart and prayers.

UPDATE: After he completes the radiation on his brain 2/12/20 and the new tumor in his lung, (in a couple of weeks) we will turn his care over to Hospice and the Lord. God is walking by each of us, giving us strength. Please continue to pray for us- as we said in the beginning, we will live and love each day we have together. Isaiah 40 tells us He is aware of our circumstances and He will give us strength to get through this trial, as for Allan he has said from the beginning... ‘he is a winner either way’.
