Alison's Medical Fund for a bed

Donation protected
April 25, 2014 , my mom Alison Martin, maiden name Kinloch, was diagnosed with breast cancer. May 13, 2014, my mom had breast surgery. The following  2 months my mom received radiation. We stayed optimistic that my mom was going to be okay. Then, it all changed. Oct. 4, 2014, my mom was in the emergency room real sick. Doctors decided to do a CT scan and discovered a suspicious mass near her lower spine. As soon as my mom was well, she went through several test which confirmed it was bone cancer. The oncologist told my mom, bone cancer is incurable. As Christians, we know God can heal and do anything, but this was still hard to hear.  Soon after, she went through more radiation to the bones surrounding the mass. Thankfully, this treatment was finished the week before Christmas of 2014.  For my mom, one of the difficult side effects of radiation is the changes to her skin. She is not able to be in the heat outside very long because her skin starts to hurt all over. My mom has told me, it feels like horrible insects biting her all over her body.  I am very thankful to God everyday my mom is still alive.  Regardless, of constant test every 3 months and labs every 5 weeks, to keep a close eye on the cancer,  she never gives up.
It is now, Aug. 2017, and the cancer is still in the bones near spine, and hip bones. I am so grateful but at the same time, I see my mom hide her pain daily with a smile and her positive outlook. You see, because of the bone cancer, my mom has slept in a recliner for 2 years now. She cannot lay flat in a bed or she will cry in pain. She cannot lay on her right side because of the port, which makes it very uncomfortable. For my mom , she knows herself. If she had a hospital bed, she would not be with us much longer because of the emotional impact. My mom wants to live as normal as possible.  It is becoming more difficult for my mom to stand very long. Some days she simply cant walk very far because the pain in her bones is too much. The doctors have told us she has degeneration of the bones. She could very possibly start having premature osteoporosis. The cancer medicine she has to take is something she needs but at same time for her, the side effect is more intense bone pain on top of what she is already dealing with from the bone cancer itself.  My moms legs and feet are swelling everyday now and at times going numb. She will have test soon to confirm if she is now dealing with neuropathy,
I have created this GoFundMe page, because my mom is my world. To the doctors, she is Alison, the Stage 4 Breast Mestatis to Bone patient. To me, she is Alison, my mom. The woman who does her best to carry on with life helping take care of everyone, never complaining or asking for her own needs to be met. She is my mom, who I have seen sleep in a recliner for 2 years now because we dont have the finances to buy her the kind of special bed she needs.
Sears Dept. store has a twin size bed which is adjustable. It is $2,000.00. The head and feet will raise with a control to any position the person needs. It also has  a very supportive, yet soft matteress. When I watched my mom lay on  this bed, her eyes lit up like I  havent seen in a very long time. She looked at me and said, well it would be nice, but thats just a big dream. She told me, her  recliner will be fine hopefully many more years if her bones hold out and she is still alive.

As her daughter, I am asking for donations to help us purchase this bed for my mom. My mom has taken care of my brother who is deaf . She has helped my grandmother who is blind. She never thinks of herself first. My mom will even help a stranger.  My dad works very hard for his family but for a purchase like this, we dont have it. We will never be able to purchase it on our own. My mom doesnt receive disability because they said she does not have enough work credits . So, I want to help make this happen for my mom by asking for your donation.  A bed is something she needs and deserves.
A bed she can sleep in with dignity and possibly sleep more comfortably than she has in 2 years.
