Don't Stress Meow-t Update Old Kitty Homes

I have been a cat care volunteer with the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh at their North facility for the last two years. During that time I have seen the love and devotion that HARP consistently provides to the animals in their care. Over the last two years I have also seen the deterioration of the cat housing that has served the shelter well for a very long time. As you can imagine many of the dollars raised for HARP go directly to the big ticket items like medical care.

Good housing is incredibly important to the mental and physical well being of the cats while they are in the shelter. It is also incredibly expensive to replace. A single bank of cat cages costs $10,000. Replacing an entire adoption floor of cages or those in the secondary secure area where the cats are evaluated when first coming to the shelter can cost upwards of $100,000 per area.
