Sending Alfred home, together
Donation protected
Help us bring Alfred's kids home, and lay him to rest.
My closest friend Katie Palmer was preparing for Christmas, as many of us are. Gathering presents for her two sons and husband, when her holiday's were turned upside down. Katie's dad- Alfred Palmer- was admitted to the hospital and given less than a week to live. It was unexpected, and is unfolding fast.
Katie and her sisters- Sarah and Amy- are coordinating last minute travel plans over Christmas, Alfred's end of life care, and funeral arrangements. Each of these strong women have children and families, and they are wearing the multiple hats of mother, spouse, daughter and caregiver.
Playing in the background are the questions no one wants to face. Do I come before he passes, or after? How can I afford two trips? How can we afford a dignified burial and remembrance? How will this affect Christmas, for me and my kids? How will life be without my father? How do we explain this to our children?
So many of those questions cannot be helped by Katie, Sarah and Amy's loved ones. They will have to continue in their strength to navigate the answers.
But we can help them answer a few of those questions, and reduce the stress and financial burden. Help us support the hospital, memorial, funeral costs and travel home for Alfred's daughters. No amount is too small, and a minimum of $6,000 will help cover the immediate costs of cremation and transportation home. Shanna will be use these funds to reimburse the costs fronted by family members- and pay the funeral home directly. Any funds remaining after all medical, funeral and travel costs are covered will be split evenly among Sarah, Amy and Katie.
If you can't help (and we understand there are so many who simply can't)- please share this with others.
Thanks and love to you and your's-
Shanna
