Friends, family and strangers alike - As you might already know, Antonio, the husband of my very best friend and a man I consider one of my best friends himself, is battling esophageal cancer. To know him and his family is to love them. In a time that should have been filled with nothing but pure joy and happiness surrounding the birth of their absolutely beautiful second baby girl, they are shrouded in sadness. The family has discovered this disease in Antonio and that it has, in fact, spread. Millions of people live each day fighting cancer but never has it felt more personal for any of us. Never have we felt it’s effects more.
As they are currently unable to work, let’s come together to try to help relieve at least some of the financial burden that this disease has imposed upon them. Danielle and Antonio’s efforts and thoughts should be solely concentrated on his treatment and their two amazing babies Sofia and Giuliana (TeeTee loves you girls!!!), and not on paying for medical expenses. Any and every contribution you can offer helps and is so greatly appreciated.
The context of the message and prelude to it is too personal to me to share but I think Danielle said it best, “Take the time each day to tell your loved ones how much you love them. When you're mad at them, think about why the other person did what they did, and if you should even have this battle. Above all else, cherish every moment you have with them because in the blink of an eye you can come face to face with your darkest hour.”
Lastly, in addition to any financial contribution you can generously offer, I ask for prayers. If you can be so kind as to take a moment of your time - as often as you can and say a prayer for strength, for courage, and for healing for Antonio. Just as I stood next to them on their wedding day next to God, I stand next to them now. May Antonio know that while this is his battle to fight, he is not alone and that we all stand beside him, holding him up.
