I'm Alex, a 21 year old trans male student from Lancashire. I have been aware of my identity as a trans man since the age of around 14, with several years of confusion and struggling prior to that. It has been extremely difficult to accept that this is who I am and who I will always be, even more so as I grow older and continue to see no physical changes - I have been on the NHS waiting list for around 3 years now, yet to have a single appointment.
Consequently, I am getting to the point where private clinics are something that I must consider, despite being in no financial position to do so. As a student coming from a working-class background, the prices of hormone therapy (HRT) and top surgery are not attainable by my own means alone, which is why I have come here to ask for help.
Getting the funds to support me on my journey would help me more than I could ever say, and I would be immensely grateful for any help I receive, no matter how big or small. The gender dysphoria that I have experienced all my life, even when I didn't know what it meant to be trans, will always be with me, but with the help of a private gender clinic I will be able to drastically reduce that and begin to feel like my body is aligning with my identity.
