Alex’s emergency treatment... We are reaching out to you all as a go fund me page is our only option. We’re raising money in hope that we can help Alex fight for his life!
Last night our lives changed forever...
But first here’s Alex’s story so far,
Alex has spent most of his life within the forces. He spent the first 6 years of his life as a military police dog, ensuring the safety of his officers. This was only the beginning of Alex’s journey, his career in protecting his human companions didn’t end there. His path then brought him to the military where he was greatly needed, his new job was to help train newly qualified dog handlers within the British army, he continued to serve for his country for another 3 years. It’s was during this time that I became Alex’s primary handler! We helped each other through some really tough times and connected on a greater scale than anyone could of imagined, we became inseparable. Alex became a huge part of my training as a dog handler whilst serving in the British army. However, I was then medically discharged from the army meaning I was then faced with the prospect of having to leave best friend behind. I was heartbroken and couldn’t imagine a life without my faithful companion, who had become so much more than a pet to me. And so I fought for Alex’s retirement! Thankfully the Army could see that Alex deserved the chance to be welcomed into a caring loving home where he could spend the rest of his years...until now.
Last night Alex had an horrendous accident.
I’d let him out into the garden for a toilet break as I obviously had done many times before. What happened next will haunt me for the rest of my life... I heard a huge bang, something had spooked Alex in the garden and he had ran at speed into the back door! I ran to him as fast as I could to find him crying in a heap on the floor, wrestling with himself to stand but with no avail. It suddenly became apparent that he was paralysed from the waist down.
I rushed Alex the emergency vets and x-rays were taken revealing that there were no spinal fractures, however the cause of Alex’s paralysis was still unknown. Alex’s only hope for diagnosis and rehabilitation Begins with an MRI scan...
An MRI Scan alone is around £3,500 a fee in which is impossible for me to raise on my own, and as well as the ongoing treatment that Alex will have to receive after the MRI scan. Which is why we need your help anything at all would be greatly appreciated, Alex deserves the chance to be able to fight for his life, he has been through the wars and back and we will not let him end his story like this.
