Many of you know that our dad, Alex, has been very sick for quite a while now. He has had extended stays at Kaweah Delta in ICU and step-down units. Upon his recent release, our dad decided to travel to Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara to find out once and for all what is wrong with him, in hopes that they could treat him, ending his hospital visits.
The visit did not turn out the way he and our mom had hoped. He was immediately sent to er at Cottage Hospital, in Santa Barbara and admitted on Monday Dec. 8.
Dad has many serious medical issues but the current and foremost is internal bleeding that is in a very difficult area, making it very hard to treat. The doctor says we are caught between a rock and a hardstone at this point because his body is rejecting the treatments. He also has C-diff which they are trying to get under control, and are continuing to treat other symptoms one at a time.
Unfortunately, we have no idea when Dad may come home. But it has put a financial strain on our parents, especially since Dad is self-employed.
Currently, Mom is going between staying at the hospital with Dad and staying at Audra's(an hour away from Santa Barbara). She was not prepared to stay in Santa Barbara and is there with the bare minimal.
We hated to ask, but we need help to try and get a hotel in Santa Barbara, take care of food and other necessities for our mom. Our goal limit is set at $1000, because we needed to set an amount for this page. But any and all help, prayers and positive thoughts are welcomed and appreciated.
