Alexis Miller, Guillain-Barré

Hello!
My name is Alexis and I was recently diagnosed with a chronic form of Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare nerve disorder that occurs when the immune system attacks the nervous system. As a result, the nerves are damaged and signals are delayed, causing muscular weakness. In my case, causing paralysis from the waist down and some loss of motor function in my hands.
For six years, I’ve worked as a mixologist, constantly on my feet and moving. As a mother of a three-year-old, I move around the clock. Today, my ankles and knees collapse when I stand, and I cannot walk unassisted.

After a month and a half of endless tests, procedures and way too many needles, I have a diagnosis (GBS). They found extreme B12 and Vitamin D defenciencies... Unfortunately, they also found a 12 cm ovarian cyst pushing against my liver, bladder and spine.
I’m being referred to Baylor University to look further and hopefully start intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatments. I’ll also have surgery to remove the cyst. Afterwards, I’ll need physical therapy to regain strength and balance.
Donations will go towards:
rent, water, electric bills, groceries, diapers, gas, etc.
Thank you SO much for your generosity and consideration during these difficult times!
