My name is Alexander Nelson, and I am a senior in college at UNC School of the Arts.
For as long as I’ve been involved in music I have had the dream of writing and recording a collection of work that reflects who I am and who I want to be. I have always looked for incredible opportunities to work with like-minded individuals, folks who are willing to donate their time and energy and artistry to help me create something meaningful.
Recently, I was able to do just that. My gratitude to those involved is immeasurable, and I am truly indebted to everyone who wrote, performed, advised, and made themselves generally available to me.
If you in any way even spoke with me about it, your fingerprints are on this with mine.
The purpose of this fundraiser is twofold:
1), it’s about trying to repay in some small way those who gave a lot of themselves to me without the promise of pay, because their contributions are important and should be recognized.
2), I have had lots of people express to me that they are interested in supporting what I’m trying to do, and if you find that you are able to be one of those people any help you could provide would be appreciated.
All of the money raised will go directly into the project; everything from paying the people involved, to covering the production of physical copies, to paying for distribution. I’ve already supported a lot of the project from my own personal funds, and trying to do so on a college student’s budget is no easy task.
Additionally, you can treat this as a sort of “pre-order“. Anyone who donates will receive a digital copy, and if you would like a specific format (CD, vinyl, etc.) you can specify that and give us an idea of how much of that stuff we can order.
I suggest that donations reflect the medium requested; vinyl is generally pretty expensive ($30) when compared to MP3 files, for example.
Any amount that you can or want to contribute would be appreciated. The knowledge that someone feels like giving even 5 dollars is incredibly humbling. Thank you thank you thank you for reading.
