Alex Van Brasch surgery fund
Dearest friends and family,
This past Sunday, October 25th, Alex was injured in a fall and fractured the Calcaneus ( the large bone that forms the heel ) into 7 pieces and extending into the joint.
This is a bad injury with a very long recovery period of approximately a year. Four to six months of this , he will be non weight bearing and dependent on a wheelchair or crutches. His job requires driving, lifting, bending and walking and he will be unable to return to this work for a long period of time.
Like many of you, COVID limited his ability to earn a full paycheck due to shutdowns, and left no money for an insurance policy of his own. He and his wife must now try and raise the money for surgery.
The surgery will require the placement of screws (and possibly a plate )to align the bones and the joint so that it heals well and does not cause chronic pain and arthritis.
As you can imagine, this has caused a lot of anxiety for Alex and Becca. We would like to try and lessen the burden for them by raising the money for surgery. The surgery center quoted them $11,600, and the surgery will take place on Nov 6th to allow for the swelling to improve.
The money we raise , will go directly to pay for the surgery and anything above that, will help supplement the loss of income and potential equipment or physical therapy he may need.
Alex is a very kind, talented and loving husband, son and friend. We are very grateful for any help that you can offer them, in any amount.
