Alex & Edna- Baby Victoria Memorial

Alex "DJ Azteca" Rodriguez and Edna Ornelas discovered the news that they were expecting, this came as a huge surprise! They had no clue that they were 24 weeks along when they went to the hospital on Monday, July 10. Edna's blood pressure was dangerously high due to pre-eclampsia and therefore she had to have an emergency c-section to deliver her baby onTuesday, July 11. Their beautiful baby girl, Victoria Aileen, was born at 5:12pm at 1lb 2oz and 10 1/4in. Victoria was born breathing on her own, opening her eyes and was very active, which led the doctors to believe she was actually further along than 24 weeks. This made the doctors much more optomistic as each day as a preemie increased her chances of survival. Day by day she met and even exceeded expectations. She was known in the NICU as a strong and feisty baby girl!
Unexpectedly, things took a turn for the worst overnight and on the morning of Wednesday, July 19 they recieved the bad news that a blood test came back showing a strain of staph infection in her blood that she couldn't fight without a strong immune system. Her heart began failing and they were unable to resusitate her. The doctors called Alex and Edna asking them to hurry to the hospital to say their goodbyes.
Our strong and beautiful Victoria Aileen touched everyone's hearts in such a short time, that she will never be forgotten. She left her footprints in Alex and Edna's hearts forever. This beautiful girl was loved the moment they knew she was coming. She opened their hearts to love more than they ever thought was possible.
Unfortunatley, we can never plan for the expenses to have a memorial for a baby, medical expenses and other expenses that they have incurred . Victoria's memorial will be held on Sunday, July 23. So far, the costs are far more than our immediate family can support them with. If you can help with any amount, we will all be grateful. They have a long journey ahead of them and we would like to help them with the financial burden so they can focus on their recovery.
