Alex Buckley Scholarship

Donation protected

Alex Buckley (above right) passed away on September 5, 2017.  In his memory and honor we have established the Alex Buckley Memorial Scholarship fund.  The fund proceeds are used to grant scholarships to recovering addicts to join a Midwest United States region Oxford Recovery House.

From it's website, ( http://www.oxfordhouse.org/userfiles/file/purpose_and_structure.php  ) the purpose of Oxford House is a concept in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. In its simplest form, an Oxford House describes a democratically run, self-supporting and drug free home.

To date, the Alex Buckley Memorial Scholarship has already paid for fifteen (15) recovering addicts to have this excellent opportunity for recovery and a bright future.  The Scholarship is getting wider and wider use and the need for additional funds is growing.

The recommended donation is, of course, whatever you can afford.  The scholarships are paid out in the form of $150.00 each on behalf of a person that is in recovery and is currently drug free with employment options to cover a week's rent and deposit at an Oxford Recovery House.

March 10, 2018 would have been Alex's 25th birthday, a major milestone.  In honor of his memory we are spreading the word about his fund.  Although he is sadly no longer here to help others, donors can endeavor to help others in his name.

If you knew Alex or if you didn't, the Alex Buckley Memorial Scholarship is a way to make a small difference with a donation to help addicts fighting the battle of recovery from substance abuse.

Donations may be made through this gofundme.com page, or by contacting Alex's father, Brent Buckley.

The news is sadly full of stories about accidental deaths associated with the opioid epidemic and other drugs and alcohol.  Everyone obviously wants to do what they can to help at whatever level they are able.

If you aren't able to donate, please do your bit to help out by sharing this gofundme.com campaign far and wide via social media.

Alex was known for his gentle heart and love for all.  He had the ability to become fast friends with seemingly everybody he met.  Please help us honor his heart with a donation or other involvement.

Thank You, and please donate today or contact us for more information on what you can do to help the cause of recovering addicts.
