Alcohol Awareness In Memory of Maria G. Donatelli

Hi everyone, 

I am fundraising for First Step Recovery in Warren, Ohio in honor of my mother, Maria G. Donatelli, who recently passed away too soon from alcoholism. My mother’s addiction to this insidious disease and the suffering she endured is why I am selling shirts in memory of her, in an effort to raise money for the alcohol recovery center. Society only glorifies alcohol consumption, bombarding us with images of partying and social acceptance. It does not depict abuse, the number of lives lost, the pain from the disease, nor the toll it has on those who love them. Because of the expense to raise awareness on a national scale, treatment programs and centers do not have the budget to inform people where help can be found. Nor can they compete with the the huge alcohol companies promoting alcohol consumption. This is why raising awareness locally is critical to the success of help centers like First Step Recovery in Warren, OH in combating alcoholism. I believe each shirt that is worn will help bring awareness to the community, and hopefully lower the chance of anyone else losing a loved one. Alcoholism is a powerful addiction and requires help to beat. If you think you or a loved one may be suffering from one of the many forms of alcoholism, please get the necessary professional help that is needed. Let’s prevent this disease from causing another family from you or a loved one becoming a memory. We love you all!
