Since August 1, 2015 an angel has lived among us here in the Land of Enchantment. The circumstances under which Alayah and her little brother Cordae came to live with their Auntie Ebony are heartbreaking and difficult, at the very least. However, since her arrival, Alayah has shown her resilience and beauty in the face of painful realities every single day!
Alayah has spent her 4th, 5th & 6th grade years at Escuela del Sol Montessori school and has accomplished so much in her time there! Alayah was inaugural Jr. Elementary Class President, Fashion Club Founder, Marketing Director of Sr. Elementary's natural home cleaning product line "Escuela Shine," artist, curator, mentor, tutor, volunteer, avid reader, and all around light on the campus! Outside of school Alayah is a prolific artist, and eager volunteer who has offered her summer vacation time to the Clothing Closet of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Denver, CO and several Burque Noir Community Showcases. Alayah has even donated her original artwork to New Day Youth and Family Services to help newly placed residences decorate their homes.
Alayah's personal academic goals lead her to Bosque School for her 7th grade year. After application, testing, and interviews, Alayah was accepted by the admissions committee who were impressed and excited to welcome her for the 2018-19 academic year!
Despite my best efforts and the generous financial aid award for Alayah's tuition, we are in need of help from our family, friends, and community to help us satisfy the remaining $5,000.00 tuition balance before the July 2nd deadline.
Alayah is most passionate about going to Bosque so that she can delve into a rich curriculum in creative and expository writing, interactive Spanish, hands-on math, compassion building service learning, and fine art.
If you've ever met her, you know a good book or sketch pad is within arms reach. This Bosque experience seems to be no different. Your contribution will help Alayah realize her goals and you will be helping a young, gifted, Black girl who rocks make her collegiate dreams a reality!
