Alana Rides Sky Island Odyssey

Hi, I’m Alana Rose. I am 15 years old and I live in Alaska. Biking is my passion and always has been.  It’s my goal to inspire other teenagers who have challenges that they can accomplish anything.   Last summer, I took a bike trip down the pacific coast. It was about 1,600 miles. I loved most parts of it. It did pour rain for almost three weeks which was less enjoyable. I saw some beautiful animals and loved waking up to the ocean waves everyday. 

Two years ago, I took a trip across my home state of Alaska. I started in Cantwell, biked up to Coldfoot, then all the way back to my hometown of Anchorage. This bike trip all together was about 1,019 miles. During this trip, I saw many parts of my home state I had never seen before.  

For my next long distance bike trip, I would like to bike the Sky Island Odyssey East Loop Trail in Patagonia, Arizona. I will be riding with my mentor and fellow biker, Lael Wilcox on this trip. 

I will be using the funds earned from this Go Fund Me to pay for my airfare to Arizona and food costs. I am also selling jewelry that I make out of recycled bike parts to pay for this trip as well.

I have all the necessary gear for this trip and recently purchased a specialized rockhopper! I worked all summer at a local bicycle shop and was happy that I could purchase this bike. I’m very excited about this trip and am so thankful for your support.
