Alan “Piggy” Pickering

Donation protected
As you all may know, Alan “Piggy” Pickering unexpectedly died on 22nd December 2022, of a Pulmonary Embolism. Known to many, Alan was a wonderful Son, Brother, Father, Uncle and friend. His dedicated efforts toward his love of scootering, Saxaphone playing and charity work appears to have touched many throughout his past years. When Alan turned 20 he was in a near fatal accident when a tractor and plough pulled out in front of him when riding home from work on his beloved Lambretta. Alan was hospitalised for 6 months, comatosed for 6 weeks and Endured a tracheotomy and many procedures to maintain his airways over the years. The brain injury left him unstable and having to learn to walk and talk again, which affected the rest of his life. Alan found therapy in the form of music, encouraged by Professor Moghissi his surgeon, of Castle Hill Hospital, to start playing the saxaphone as rehabilitation after his tracheotomy. Since then, Alan has been playing his saxaphone for the public, raising money for charities, becoming a regular character around Scarborough, Malton, Pickering and York. In his earlier days Alan thrived On his scooter ,a friendly face to many. Well known around the Scarborough Scootering scene, as Piggy Pickering. We know how desperately hard times are but would greatly appreciate any contribution toward funeral costs, with spare monies going back to the local charities that Alan so dearly supported. We greatly miss Alan, truly a devastating time. Updates on funeral are to be followed
