Donation protected
UPDATE: Due to a health setback, Alan’s operation and treatment in Holland has been put on hold. However Alan is more determined than ever to fight his illness and will continue his treatment under medical oncologist Dr Derek Power and his team at Mercy University Hospital Cork.  The fundraiser raceday on October 13th will go ahead as planned and we hope you can join us in showing our support for Alan. The funds raised from this GoFundMe campaign, the ALL fundraising activities will continue to go towards Alan’s treatment with any excess funds donated to Dr Power’s cancer research programme at the Mercy Foundation. Thank you for your continued support, it means the world to Alan and Eileen, his family and friends #togetherwecanbeatit

Alan, aged 46, was diagnosed with liver cancer in November 2017.  After 22 months of rigorous chemotherapy there has been no major progress and Alan has now been accepted for a life enhancing operation in Holland by one of the world’s leading liver specialists.

To help contribute to the cost of Alan’s operation and treatment in Holland, a fundraiser has been organised at the Curragh Racecourse season finale on Sunday October 13th - The Alan Kavanagh life enhancing operation (Holland) Raceday.

Admission tickets are €20 which will include a special draw on the day. The first of an eight race card is off at 1.35pm with the last race at 5.35pm and we hope that Alan and his family will be joined by his large circle of friends and colleagues for what promises to be a great day out.

All donations from this GoFundMe campaign will be transferred directly to a Bank of Ireland account, set up on behalf of Alan by Michael Moloney and Martin Murray.  The account is held at Bank of Ireland Kildare Town branch and the name of the account is  'Alan Kavanagh Life Enhancing Operation' for which Michael Moloney is the treasurer and secretary. Michael is a personal friend of Alan's and Martin is Alan's brother-in-law.  All funds lodged into this account will go directly to support Alan's treatment, whatever path this may take, with any excess funds donated to cancer research at The Mercy Foundation, the official fundraising body for the Mercy University Hospital in Cork.
