Alaina Braden Medical Expenses
Don protégé
Alaina Braden was born October 11, 2016- 8 weeks earlier than expected. Alaina was born with heterotaxy, a condition in which certain organs form on the opposite side of the body. Alaina's condition with herterotaxy was the inversion within the volvulous. This condition did cause her to have a malrotated small intestine, which made her vulnerable to a volvulous, which is when your intestine twists inside of you. During surgery, the "dead" part of her intestine was removed.
During the procedure to repair her small intestine it was revealed that she also has biliary atresia, a rare condition associated with heterotaxy in which bile does not drain into your intestines. Because of this, another procedure was completed in which part of the small intestine is connected to the liver, so the bile can drain directly into the intestines. In many situations this will repair the issue but for Alaina was determined that she would need a liver transplant within the next year.
On March 31st, Alaina was admitted with acute respitory distress and has since been in the PICU at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan. Since then her respitory infection has improved however her liver disease has rapidly progressed.
Hopefully within the next few days, our sweet Alaina will be flown to Pittsburgh to undergo an immediate transplant evaluation.
We all have been at a loss of what we can each do for this family. We all love them so much and are fighting for Alaina- she is the warrior of this story.
This Go Fund Me page was created by the friends of Abby and Jeb because we know there are so many of you out there who just want to help.
Any dollar amount is appreciated- our goal is to raise as much money as possible for Alaina and her family to help cover medical expenses. Abby and Jeb did not ask for this- it is our way of showing our love and support. Most of us have been just asking ourselves what we can do and have been praying non-stop.
Please share with those who love the Bradens!
Much love,
Friends of the Bradens
