Reuniting Al-Ajla family: From Rubble to Refuge

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Muhammad Al-Ajla, reaching out from Gaza, Palestine. Our family was torn apart when my sister, our parents, and some of our siblings found refuge in Turkey this past February. However, the journey to safety remains incomplete as my sister, her husband, their daughter, and I are still in Gaza, yearning for the day we can embrace our loved ones again.

Since the start of the conflict of October 7, our recently renovated home was destroyed. This home was a symbol of our resilience, rebuilt in the aftermath of the 2021 conflict. Now, as part of my family found safety in Turkey, those of us remaining in Gaza face the daily reminder of the painful distance between us. Our family's journey, characterized by resilience amidst ruins, underscores our longing for reunion.

Our Story:
Our experience with adversity is not new. We've endured the occupation, bombings that decimated my attempts to rebuild our lives, and now, this war threatens our existence. My sisters, both aspiring medical students, have seen their universities destroyed, interrupting their education and dreams.

Despite these challenges, they have volunteered with the Red Crescent Society, showcasing the resilience that defines our family.

Our search for refuge has been relentless, moving to over five locations before temporarily settling in southern Gaza, near the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian border.

The impact on my family has been profound. My 63-year-old father, who suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure, has lost his workplace, his home, and access to essential medications. Amidst this turmoil, my sister's marriage plans were destroyed, her hopes and dreams buried with her home, leaving us with nothing but the clothes on our backs.

We also mourn the loss of 30 family members to this conflict, a grief beyond words.

The Appeal:
In such despair, our determination to find safety has intensified. The cost of crossing the border, now an exorbitant $7,000 per person, is a significant obstacle to our escape. Through this GoFundMe, I appeal to you not only as potential donors but as beacons of hope in our darkest hour.

Reuniting our family means overcoming financial and bureaucratic challenges. The costs of safe passage, necessary legal documentation, and starting anew in Turkey are hurdles too high for us to clear alone.

How You Can Help:
  • Donate: Your support can help cover the logistical and financial challenges of reuniting us with our family in Turkey, ensuring we can start anew together.
  • Share: By sharing our story, you extend our reach for help far beyond our immediate grasp, potentially saving lives.
  • Support: Any guidance, resources, or assistance you can offer will be invaluable in our quest for safety and stability.
