#AKIRACARES  www.akiracollection.com Akira Collection is a small swimwear and accessory brand that started less than 1 month ago. Then the COVID-19 outbreak began. We struggled, feeling helpless for our business and that we couldn’t do much more to help than to sit at home.  Then we came across articles from npr, cbs news, etc. Suddenly, made in Hawaii meant something more.  We could quickly and easily transition our manufacturing to do something to help.  So we began sewing facemasks for medical professionals.  We realize they are not ideal, but the best under the circumstances. In our first day we manufactured more than 100 facemasks and we were excited when people from Navian Hawaii (formerly Hospice Hawaii), Front line workers at Queens Medical Center and Kapiolani Medical center for Women and Children reached out to us saying they could use them. The facemasks are already out for delivery and we are having inquiries for more every hour. We’re doing as much as we can to do our part.  We are currently working on manufacturing hundreds more of these masks. However, we only have limited resources and need your help to continue sending these masks to health care professionals. Doctors, nurses, and anyone working in hospitals are not only risking their lives to fight this pandemic but also risking the lives of their families and loved ones. They work towards limiting the spread of this and other viruses.  We are focusing on providing the best under the circumstances tools for the situation health care providers are facing on a day-to-day basis. We are focusing on a present need seen in the media, confirmed by local front line workers and one we have the unique ability to assist in.
