A Kidney for Dad

In 1980 Paul met Annette and the two were immediately attached to each other.  Less than a year later they were married and 3 short months later their story nearly ended.  Annette was hit by a drunk driver and died twice on the way to the hospital.  After months of rehabilitation Paul had his wife back.  Within 5 years the two would have 2 healthy, happy daughters Jennifer and Christina. Both made their parents so proud; Jen became a Physical Therapist and Chrissy, a Registered Nurse.  But, in November 2009 the story for the Watrous family took on a different tone when Paul was diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Failure.
Over the next 5 years and hundreds of thousands of dollars later, Paul and Annette have lost nearly everything.  Their home has been foreclosed on, they had to file bankruptcy from the medical bills.  And now, with 3 young grandchildren to think about, Paul needs a transplant.
Through all of this sorrow and years of set-backs, there is a light: Chrissy is a match!  The ball is rolling and the clock is ticking as surgery is scheduled for April 23, 2014.  And though Paul's Medicare and Medicaid will pick up the medical bills, other expenses are already stacking up.  Between the 3 hour drive to the hospital and the numerous appointments for both Paul and Chrissy prior to surgery, the process is becoming expensive.  Chrissy's pay for work will be significantly cut for the 4 weeks she'll be off from her job as a Dialysis Nurse.  Paul and Annette will have to live 3 hrs from home for at least a month following surgery.  In a time that should be so happy and exciting there is an overwhelming amount of stress building.
