Helping the Bennett family

Donation protected
Sam Bennett is a Husband, a Father and a Veteran who has been struck down at age 44 with some form of Spinal Meningitis. Sam  is a very outgoing family man who’s life revolves around his 6 year old son and his loving wife. The Doctors aren’t sure which kind (Bacterial, Viral or Fungal) of meningitis it is. This all started on November 15th, he got a bad headache and wasn’t feeling well. He was admitted into Lake City Medical Center on the 17th and on the 18th he was diagnosed with Spinal Meningitis. Lake City wasn’t equipped to deal with that, so they transferred him to North Florida Regional Medical Center. They conducted several tests with them all coming back negative. He was there for nine days and they hadn’t made any progress in treating him or finding what type it was ( not for lack of trying). They worked very hard and the Nurses over there were amazing. On Sunday November 26th, we had him transferred to Shands in Gainesville. They have been wonderful....diligently working to try and figure out what is causing the infection in the membrane around his brain. He has started having seizures, so they are treating those and Sam has unfortunately had his heart stop beating on three separate occasions. They have started it back through CPR all three times. They are now putting a temporary Pace maker in to prevent that from happening again. They are doing every test that they can think of and they are taking extremely good care of him while they work on that. He has a team of Doctors working on his case and I am confident that they will figure it out. I have complete faith that God will make him better and instruct his Doctors on what to do. God has received so many prayers from countless people, and I thank each and everyone of you for those prayers and support. Sam has so many people who care about him ( he has no idea the amount of support). I appreciate all of you. Thank you and God bless!!!

His immediate family and extended family have come from great distances to provide support. Hotel and food costs are starting to have a significant effect on everyone’s budget. Sam’s wife has exhausted her vacation and will stop receiving pay soon. We are asking for your help in offsetting Sam’s family’s extreme financial burden. He is expected to remain in ICU for at least another 3-4 weeks at a minimum. We know Christmas is coming soon and everyone doesn’t have a lot to give, but anything you can do will go a long way.  Thank you for your prayers and support for Sam.
