In 2008 my 18 year old daughter Cassandra was diagnosed with Chrons disease 6 month after she gave birth to her first daughter Letisha. In the past 5 years my daughter has faced many health problems (14 surgeries and a death of her new born daughter) due to the Chrons disease. She has been hospitalized for about 2 1/2 year in the past 5 years due to her health. My daughter has more strength and courage then I have ever seen in a person and face’s every day with a positive attitude. But time is running out unless we find a miracle to get her Crohns into remission. Here is a bit about my daughter’s journey the past 5 years.
In 2009 she was diagnosed with colitis and had to have emergency surgery an operation which is called a iliostomy. The results from this operation left Cassandra needing to wear a bag over the iliostomy to collect your stool and she faced this with great courage and strength. Thinking the worst was over she soon became sick again and spent many months in and out of the hospital with no answer to why her health was getting worse. Having to face her own health problems was one thing but having to leave her child at home with her me was hard, as Cassandra was missing her daughter grow up. Cassandra underwent 3 surgeries (removing a length of her small intestine each time) because of blockages which stop food from leaving her body.
In 2011 Cassandra found out she was pregnant and she was thrilled with the news but that soon turned into to fear as she was having a flair up which was causing her small intestine to have a blockage. Cassandra was hospitalized again and spent 3 months in the hospital bed with a tube down her nose to drain her stomach giving her unborn child time to grow. Cassandra got an infection and they had to do an emergency C-section at 27 weeks pregnant. She delivered a 2.5 pound baby girl Lillyanne. Cassandra went through another surgery to remove the blockage and was enjoying her new daughter when she was suddenly at 48 hours old Lillyanne passed away. Cassandra had to watch her daugther die in front of her as Lily-Ann's lungs hemeraged.Heart broken and still very sick Cassandra stayed another month in the hospital before she could leave and grieve her loss. Over the next year Cassandra spent 4 months in the hospital and went through 2 more surgeries due to more blockages.
In 2012 she found she was pregnant again and at 20 weeks along she became very sick and was hospitalized again. Cassandra spent 3 months in the hospital and had to have another emergency C-section and gave birth at 32 weeks to another beautiful baby girl Layla-Rose weighting 4 lbs 2 oz. Layla-rose was given the same cance to survive as her sister but Layla-Rose was very strong and grew stronger by te minute but her mom was not doing well. Layla-Rose soon moved through the stages of the pre- natal ward and came home at 2 months old. Since Layla-Rose was born, Cassandra health as not improved and she has been hospitalized 3 times due to her Chrons. With not results from all the medication and drugs Cassandra health still is declining. Last month Cassandra was diagnosed with Vaginal Crohns disease which is a very rare form of crohns.
As a mother I find it so hard not to be able to take away the pain my daughter lives with every day. I watch my daughter slowly dying in front of me and can’t do anything to save her. Her one wish and dream is to take her children to Disney land for a holiday to create happy memories as there have been very few in the past 5 years. My daughter never once has given up her fight to live and to be a mom to her children. A dream holiday to Disney land would be very healing to her spirit and bring so much needed joy to her life. So I am asking that you please help me raise money to send her to Disney land while she still can travel and enjoy her time with her children.
