AIUTIAMO IL CARSO! HELP KARST!

Questo mercoledì ci siamo trovati nel mezzo di un fronte di fuoco e fiamme, nell’epicentro dell’incendio più devastante nella storia del Carso, riportato dai media nazionali e internazionali. Adesso ci troviamo davanti ad una tragedia sociale e turistica. Siamo la famiglia Pahor di Jamiano, un piccolo paesino tra Trieste e Gorizia sul confine italo-sloveno, gestori del boutique Hotel & Restaurant Pahor, con il quale ci sforziamo col cuore per la valorizzazione e la promozione del nostro verde Carso, delle sue erbe e delle piante, della selvaggina e dei suoi prodotti locali. Tutto questo è andato in fumo! I nostri vigneti e parte degli oliveti, tutti bruciati. La selvaggina morta o fuggita. La paura rimane in noi e in tanti turisti che intanto hanno cancellato il 90% delle prenotazioni. Invece dei ginepri e dei pini, ora siamo circondati da un paesaggio che assomiglia al triste spettacolo della grande guerra. La bora soffia sul terreno di morte, in uno silenzio spettrale. Ci vorranno dieci o quindici anni per far ricrescere qualcosa. Noi ci impegneremo al massimo.

Vogliamo investire le donazioni raccolte nella manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria delle aree boschive circostanti, nel disboscamento delle aree invase dalla vegetazione pericolosa per la diffusione di focolai, nella rimozione di alberi caduti e bruciati, nell'abbattimento di rami pericolanti, nella cura della landa carsica, nel ripristino e nella piantumazione di boschi e piantagioni, nella rivitalizzazione della popolazione di selvaggina nell'ambiente naturale, nella promozione dell'attività alberghiera e dell'intero Carso devastato.

V sredo smo se znašli sredi ognjene fronte iz gorečih zubljev in pekočega dima, sredi požarišča ene najhuje prizadetih kraških vasi, o kateri so poročali državni in mednarodni mediji. Preživeli smo človeško in naravno tragedijo. Pred nami je pa družbena in turistična tragedija. Smo družina Pahor iz Jamelj, vasice med Trstom in Gorico na italjansko-slovenskem obmejnem pasu, upravitelji butičnega Hotela & Restaurant Pahor s katerim se srčno trudimo za vrednotenje in promocijo našega zelenega Krasa, njegovih zelišč in rastlin, divjih živali in domačih proizvodov. Zdaj je vse to uničeno! Zgoreli so nam vinogradi in del oljčnih nasadov. Divje živali so poginule ali pobegle. Strah bo ostal v naših kosteh in očeh turistov, ki so že preklicali 90 % rezervacij. Če smo do včeraj uživali ob pogledu na kraški bor in brinj, nas danes obdaja žalostna pokrajina, ki spominja na prizore iz prve svetovne vojne. Burja piha čez smrtno pokrajino, na kateri nič ni preživelo, ne srne ne črički in ne zemlja, na kateri bi lahko kaj zraslo. Eno samo skalovje. In smrtna tišina. Čakati bo treba od deset do petnajst let. Mi si bomo zavihali rokave, da bo ta čas čim krajši.

Zbrane donacije želimo vložiti v redno in izredno vzdrževanje okoliških gozdov, čiščenje zaraščenih površin, ki nevarno širijo požarišča, odstranjevanje podrtega in požganega drevja, sečnjo nezanesljivega vejevja, negovanje kraške gmajne, obnovo in sajenje gozdov in nasadov, ponovno oživljanje populacije divjadi v naravno okolje, promocijo hotelske dejavnosti in celotnega razdejanega Krasa.

This Wednesday we found ourselves in the middle of a front of fire and flames, at the epicentre of the most devastating fire in the history of Karst, reported by the national and international media. We survived a natural and human tragedy. Ahead us is a social and tourist tragedy. We are the Pahor family from Jamiano, a small village located between Trieste and Gorizia on the Italo-Slovene border, managers of the boutique Hotel & Restaurant Pahor. With our activity we try to enchance and promote the beauty of Karst, its herbs and plants, wildlife and local products. All this has gone up in smoke! Our vineyards and part of the olive groves, all burnt. Wildlife dead or escaped. The fear remains in us and many tourists who have meanwhile cancelled 90% of their bookings. Instead of junipers and pines, we are now surrounded by a landscape that resembles the sad spectacle of the Great War. The Bora wind blows over the land of death in a ghostly silence. It will take ten or fifteen years for anything to grow back. We will do our utmost.

We want to invest the collected donations in the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the surrounding forest areas, in clearing the areas invaded by vegetation which is dangerous to the spread of fires, in the removal of fallen and burnt trees, in the felling of dangerous branches, in the care of the Karst heath, in the restoration and replanting of forests and plantations, in the revitalisation of the wildlife in its natural environment, in the promotion of hotel activities and the initiatives for the entire devastated Karst.

An diesem Mittwoch befanden wir uns inmitten einer Front aus Feuer und Flammen, im Epizentrum des verheerendsten Brandes in der Geschichte des Karsts, über den die nationalen und internationalen Medien berichteten. Wir haben die natürliche und menschliche Tragödie überlebt. Was uns anzieht, ist die soziale und touristische Tragödie. Wir sind die Familie Pahor aus Jamiano, einem kleinen Dorf zwischen Triest und Görz an der italienisch-slowenischen Grenze, die das boutique Hotel & Restaurant Pahor betreibt. Mit unserer Geschäftstätigkeit versuchen wir, die Schönheit des grünen Karsts, seine Kräuter und Pflanzen, die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt und die lokalen Produkte aufzuwerten und zu fördern. All das hat sich in Rauch aufgelöst! Die Weinberge und ein Teil der Olivenhaine, alles verbrannt. Wild tot oder entkommen. Die Angst bleibt bei uns und bei vielen Touristen, die inzwischen 90 Prozent ihrer Buchungen storniert haben. Statt Wacholder und Kiefern sind wir nun von einer Landschaft umgeben, die an das traurige Schauspiel des Großen Krieges erinnert. Die Bora Wind weht in gespenstischer Stille über das Land des Todes. Es wird zehn oder fünfzehn Jahre dauern, bis etwas nachwächst. Wir werden alles in unserer Macht Stehende tun.

Wir wollen die gesammelten Spenden in die ordentliche und außerordentliche Pflege der umliegenden Waldgebiete investieren, in die Räumung der von brandgefährlicher Vegetation überwucherten Flächen, in die Beseitigung umgestürzter und verbrannter Bäume, in das Fällen gefährlicher Äste, in die Pflege der Karstheide, in die Wiederherstellung und Anpflanzung von Wäldern und Plantagen, in die Wiederbelebung des Wildbestandes in der natürlichen Umgebung, in die Förderung der Hotellerie und des gesamten verwüsteten Karsts.
