Namaste everyone,
My name is Aisha Ojha and I am from Dallas, TX. I have been selected as one of the finalists for the Miss Nepal US 2018 and I need your support.
Why should you support me?
If I win the the title, I have a lot of agendas, but the two that are closest to my heart are:
1) For Nepal- Since my educational background is Mental Health and Substance Abuse, I want to establish an organized Rehab Treatment Facility in Nepal. I have talked to Shesh Ghale and Jamuna Gurung and other business men and women about this project so financially we should be secured and if not then fundraising events can also be organized.
2) For the US - I want to help fight the "perfect body" stigma that exists in our community. I want to conduct empowering workshops that focuses on self-esteem and self confidence ideas. Furthermore, I want to continue working with the second generation Nepali children and encourage them to be involved in our Nepali communities.
A little bit more about me:
I am a Social Work Masters student and my degree concentration is Mental Health and Substance Abuse at UT Arlington. Outside of school, I have my own dance studio where I teach Nepali adults and children Nepali, Bollywood and Hiphop dances. I am the Women Coordinator(WC) of the Nepalese Society of Texas (NST) and my primary roles as the WC are organizing cultural events for the members of our community and advocating for those who need representation (harassment cases, abuse cases, domestic violence, health fairs, etc.). Furthermore, I am also the NST Summer Camp Director, the sub-coordinator of the NST Nepali Pathshala and am one of the board members of the NRNA ICC Second Generation Motivation Committee. I was also the first female president of NSA@UTA, the largest Nepali student association in America.
I think my passion for social service, my involvement in the community and my determination to bring various positive changes in our community makes me an excellent candidate to win the title of Miss Nepal US 2018.
