AIA service trip to puerto penasco

Over this Christmas break I am going to be returning to Mexico to volunteer with an organization called AIMpenasco that focuses on helping kids in the community of Puerto Penasco break the cycle of poverty they come from through access to education. In addition to getting kids into local schools, AIMpenasco provides a professional team of psychologists and teachers to follow them and assure that they have all of the resources they need to succeed academically--from kindergarten through high school and even college! The kids I met here are some of the most inspiring, grateful, and fun-loving people I've ever met and I absolutely cannot wait to see their faces again soon!
While AIMpenasco's primary focus is on education they also help their students with everything from improving their living conditions, to providing consistent meals and having access to regular medical care. They also support the efforts of other community organizations who are serving vulnerable children in a variety of ways.
This Christmas break I will be helping AIMpeansco with a project at a local church in one of the poorest areas of town. This church provides a variety of support to local families including providing care and activities for children in the area. They have recently constructed a room to be able to separate the babies and toddlers from older kids but, it is less than an ideal environment. So, from December 19 - 22 I am going with a group of other CAL athletes to help convert this room into a beautiful and safe place for the young kids to enjoy!
During our trip we will also be volunteering at a before and after school Homework Club sponsored by AIMpenasco. Most of the students they support have nobody in their family who can help with homework or provide the materials that they need to succeed in school. We we will be providing some fun and educational activities for the kids and purchasing some much needed educationals materials for the club.
I am SO excited about this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these kids, just as much as they have made a difference in mine! However, to make it possible I need your help and am hoping you will consider making a donation to support this project. We will be paying our own expenses for the trip but we need to raise money for the materials and supplies we will need for our projects. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $2,000 but the more we raise the more good we will be able to do! Thank you so much for anything you can contribute!
