Heal Hercules

Donation protected
Sweet Hercules was abandoned at the Latta Plantation Nature Preserve and has the marks and injuries to show that he's had a rough life. When visitors found him in the preserve on March 25, 2017, he was running loose and greeted them with excited kisses and tail wags. No one knows how long he was left out there to fend for himself, but one thing is for sure, he sustained an injury to his back leg which will require surgery. The vet (North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital) said his platella won't stay in place and it's really inflamed. He's on medication to help manage the pain for now.

Despite all of that, he's the sweetest boy... and still very much a puppy in his behavior — loving and playful. The vet estimated he's around a year old.

His name is Hercules Houdini the First. Hercules like the dog in The Sandlot and Houdini because dude got out of his crate with the doors still closed and locked.

We're just a small group of neighbors trying to get Hercules well so that he can get healthy and adopted out to a loving furever home. If you can give just a few dollars to help us cover the cost of his looming surgery for his leg and neutering AND also getting his vaccinations and rabies, it would be so greatly appreciated. This affectionate boy deserved so much better than the life he's had. Help us make up for that lost time. We'll be taking him back to the vet for full x-rays next Monday, 4/3, to understand the true extent of his injuries. We'll share an update then.
