Help Louie see again...

Louie is a 8 yr old Brussels Griffon. When he was 7 he was diagnosied with Diabetes. Louie's body is no longer able to produce the proper amount of insulin to metabolize food into energy, his cells fail to utilize insulin properly. Think of insulin working as the key to a door. Insulin opens the doors to the cells of our body. When the door swings open , the sugar in our bloodstream enter our cells and body uses that sugar for energy. If Louie has no insulin, his body will find other sources to burn for energy...fat... and when the body burns fat for energy it produces keytones. Too high keytones is like a toxin building in his body and literally posions him.
Louie has two insulin shots a day to control his diabetes. A healthy diet and exercise is essential (he's not crazy about the exercise, who can blame him really) to keeping him balanced. He is happy and healthy...and very loved!!
Most diabetic dogs will go blind..(i still have a hard time excepting this) Basically what happens is the sugar from the diabetes collects behind the lens of his eye and causes a cloudiness or obstruction. If not treated, sugar builds up and cause tremendous pressure behind the lens and is very painful. Louie lost most his vision in about 4 months,when its bright out he still can make out some shadows, but mostly he relys on his wonderful sense of smell (and mom not moving the furniture). He still even tries to play ball on occasion and he impresses me with his "no fear" attitude. With your help I am hoping to correct Louie's vision (just one eye, his Doc says he only needs one good eye) with cataracts surgery..they go in remove the cataracts and "viola"..he will be back to bird watching and kitty chasing.
He is the peanut butter to my jelly , the cream in my coffee and the sugar in my tea...He is my little doggie soulmate and savior!
I am not asking for a hand out or your last dollar, I am asking to help a kind, sweet soul, see the birds and see his mom's face again.
