Medical bills for abused puppies

Donation protected

I am fostering four puppies that were abused and dumped on the side of the road. I spent 5 hours on Monday at the vet with them while their injuries were treated and then standing in front of the x-ray which tells the story of why one of them cannot sit up, stand or walk. I wanted to burst into tears when I saw her (June's) crushed pelvis. She is in so much pain that she doesn't move. She is a sweet, helpless puppy and didn't deserve the way she was treated. All of the puppies were scared of people, have scars and scabs all over their bodies.

Tuesday, I brought June to an orthopedic surgical specialist in Hickory, NC to determine the extent of her need, the costs involved and whether we can fix her pelvis issues in one surgery or she'll need more. As you can see from the x-ray, the right side of her pelvis has been kicked in and shattered, which compromises her ability to function normally. The left side femur socket is broken and the bone has popped out of its socket (very painful). She will need a femural head osteoectomy in addition to the pelvic reconstruction including a plate. She also has a hernia which needs to be corrected before it becomes life-threatening.

The surgeon called me this afternoon (Wednesday) to tell me that she did well during the surgery. The plate was put into place to reconstruct her crushed pelvis, the femural head osteoectomy was also successful. Once the surgeon could see what was going on inside, she did not have a hernia. The skin actually separated from her muscle and a drain was inserted to assist the skin to heal back to the muscle. Provided everything goes well, I will be picking her up on Thursday morning and caring for her needs.

About Jesse's Place Rescue, Inc.: Dorsey Patrick works day and night seven days a week to save, treat and care for all dogs regardless of how much it will cost. She has been instrumental in saving thousands of dogs lives from certain death and giving them a chance with a furever family. She always does the right thing for the dogs and cases like this are costly in addition to emotionally taxing on her.

Jesse's Place is a registered 501(c)3 so any donation will be tax deductible. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help with the bills from these puppies, especially June. $5, $10, $100, it doesn't matter what the amount is.

If we go over the goal amount, the donations will go towards heartworm treatments for dogs testing positive and treating other puppies with parvo which is very costly.
