Help me get to South Africa!
My name is Madeleine Arbo, I am an aspiring nursing student currently studying in Eugene, OR. I recently received my CNA license and I am finishing my prerequisites to apply for a nursing program here!
I've dedicated a lot of time and energy to reaching my goal of being a travel nurse, I am currently on the Vice President's list at my school, and I was given the honor of joining the honors society, Phi Theta Kappa.
This past November I was invited through PTK and The International Scholar Laureate Program (ISLP) to join them on an eight-day nursing abroad program to my choice of South Africa or Australia.
I am hoping to attend this coming May of 2020! This opportunity would benefit me so greatly as I will get to view various methods of healthcare, experience the life of nurses in different countries, and get the feel for what my career would be like traveling the globe! Not only does this pre-professional program look amazing on a resume, but on a nursing school application as well.
ISLP- South Africa will give me the chance to learn the struggles of nurses that comes with facing an HIV/AIDS epidemic, I will be studying and caring for patients at the Hillcrest AIDS Center, and visiting various hospitals, universities, and organizations. I would also experience traditional African medicine use in the modern-day while visiting a Zulu tribe!
With such a life-changing experience comes a high-cost, naturally.
So I am here to ask you today for help to fund my dream. I have never left the country and its something I've longed to do. This trip will not only set me apart from other applicants but change the way I view healthcare and give me a new perspective on my career path.

Every little penny helps me and my family to better afford this experience. THERE IS NO DEADLINE. We are taking on monthly payments and will apply any earnings through here to those as well as our down payment due this month!
