Help the Martinez-Oceguera Family

Donation protected

On June 30th, 2021 the lives of the Martinez- Oceguera Family were disrupted by the LAPD's "botched detonation" of illegal fireworks in South LA. The Martinez Oceguera Family was one of 27 families whose homes were left uninhabitable by the explosion. Juana Oceguera, Ruben Martinez and their five children, like the other affected families, were displaced. Unable to go back to their home, the Martinez -Oceguera family was taken to a shelter, then to a hotel, and finally to their new home in the city of Lancaster, CA. We are seeking your support to help this family of seven rebuild their lives. Mrs. Juana Oceguera, who usually cleans houses to support her family, is out of a job after the explosion. Mr. Ruben Martinez has been out of work for a while due to a prolonged illness. It is the family's oldest son, Jafet Martinez, 22, who is working to support his family. Jafet graduated from Edward R. Roybal Learning Center in 2017. He atttended UC Merced for a year but had to return home to help his family. He then attended community college for two years. Jafet, a dreamer, is a loyal, loving and devoted son who has made himself responsible for the well being of his family. He now works and studies to fulfill his dreams amidst the chaos brought upon by the explosion. Your support will help this family get back on their feet and start healing after so much trauma.
