Gaza: After losing our daughter, help us to safety

Hi, our names are Mahmoud Abdel Qader and Feda’a Murjan.

We are husband and wife, engineers carrying master degrees and working for prominent organizations in the Gaza Strip.

We were having the most beautiful life full of love, ambition, inspiration and happiness together with our daughter Habiba (8 years) and our son Omar (5 years).

But the recent war on the Gaza Strip deprived us of the light of our lives, they deprived us from the most beautiful, kindest and caring girl. Our daughter Habiba was killed in a brutal attack against our neighborhood in October 2023.

We lost her, and our son Omar and we were injured. She was drawing at home, Feda'a was cooking in the kitchen, when her life was taken. Our home, which we had built stone by stone, was completely destroyed and our car too. We lost everything.

Since then, we have moved from place to place asking for safety. Our life is totally turned upside down and we are living our darkest moments right now. We have moved to the south of Gaza suffering from the lack of clean water and clean food. There is no electricity, no internet, insufficient medical care - in addition to the continuous bombing, fear and horror. Needless to say the emotional and psychological toll is something from which we will never recover.

We hesitated 100 times to ask for funds. We are a little bit shy to do so but we feel that the most important thing now is to get our son Omar outside of Gaza, especially after losing his only sister Habiba. We are reaching out to raise funds, with the support of our friend in Finland, that will allow us to escape from these disastrous conditions. The goal is to move to a safer place and away from imminent danger. This costs USD $ 5000 per person, since leaving Gaza has been made extremely difficult. Your support will help us to safety and will also contribute to help us rebuild our home after the end of the war.

I, Feda’a (the wife and the mother), worked for years in a prominent human rights organization in Palestine. We as a family believe in human rights conventions, in international humanitarian law, in child rights conventions. I used to teach my daughter about human rights and also my son. Habiba was killed while she was drawing, without any fault. Your support is the only way to revive our belief in humanity.
