AFTER Homes - Mobile Service Units

Tax deductible
An appeal for communities in crisis. After Homes Foundation, a nonprofit, invites you to consider a contribution in helping our neighbors who are experiencing the hardship of homelessness to get a shower, use the restroom, get their clothes cleaned and engage with a social worker/case manager while waiting for shelter and housing options.

Be a part of a loving, meaningful and effective interim solution that will help bring immediate comfort to hundreds who are living in their cars or on the street by supporting After Homes Mobile Service Units.

Mobile Service Units description:
3 restrooms includes toilet, sink and showers (1 ADA accessible); laundry room with 2 stackable washer and dryer units; 2 internet work stations; 1 case management/social worker office. Outside has wheelchair accessible lift; 1300- gallon water storage with filtration system for gray and black water.

Innovative Design and Structure:
Our MSU's (Mobile Servise Units) are fashioned from Corten  (corrosion resistant) steel shipping containers which are “state of the art" available with solar panels and a new way to insulate,  maximizing interior space, and durable under extreme use, in addition to the water efficient/usage technologies.   The baths will be very nice but practically indestructible and easy to clean.

Communities In Crisis

Exorbitant housing costs and minimal increases of cost-of-living wages continue to force a growing number of individuals into homelessness. Those that have cars live in them while others are forced to pitch tents on concrete sidewalks. With the desire to assist those impacted by such circumstances, After Homes Foundation seeks to participate in providing a clean environment and a sense of restorative dignity and well-being to those affected citywide. To that end, After Homes Foundation is proud to announce its Mobile Shower Project.

As an offshoot to its Mission statement, the foundation will now include a small fleet of Mobile Service Units that will not only provide shower facilities for the unhoused, but the units are complete with a laundry facility, to address the hygienic needs of those whom are houseless and living nomadically on our urban streets.  Access to hygiene and basic wholesome care provides dignity to the unhoused individuals that populate a broad expanse of our urban communities.  In addition to hygiene services, the units will also offer one-on-one case outreach consultations via Case Managers assigned to each unit.

Partnering with churches, synagogues and other types of centers, as well as private entities, these mobile service units will travel throughout the week to various parts of the city providing an opportunity for all who wish to take advantage of the services provided.

With an ever-constant increasing community of unhoused individuals, a sanitary mobile facility can offer hygiene related services to individuals in need while at the same time contributing to a community’s health by providing a clean environment and thus circumventing any future outbreaks of diseases relative to unhygienic conditions that have the propensity to generate a health crisis citywide.
