African American History Field Trip

Hello!

My name is Casey Campe and I have been teaching for 17 years but this year I have an incredible opportunity to share with students. This year, I am teaching African American History to an absolutely incredible group of Seniors. They are hard-working, eager to learn, and inquisitive. They also have missed out on many field trip opportunities due to pandemic restrictions the past few years.

I just learned of a special opportunity to take this amazing class to the Steppenwolf Theatre to see Purpose, a play that takes place in Chicago, about Black American Politics by telling the story of a Black Chicagoan family addressing their own radicalism. The evening will be complete with visiting a local Black-owned restaurant, where the executive chef will talk wih students about the recipes and how they are influenced by Ghana, New Orleans and Mississippi.

To say this is an opportunity of a life time for this incredible group of students is an understatement. It would be an incredible celebration of culture, heritage and pride why saying goodbye to teachers and peers.

Therefore, I ask if you could please make any donation, big or small to help offset the cost of a bus, dinner and the play.
