What is the AAA-ERG?
The Argonne African American Employee Resource Group (AAA-ERG) https://blogs.anl.gov/aaa-erg/ partners with laboratory leadership to promote the development of African Americans in science, technology, and operations. Through engagement, mentorship, and programming that promotes cultural awareness and communication among the workforce, the AAA-ERG supports a world-class workplace to make a positive impact on the community.

To build and support the lab's world-class community of talent, we are committed to creating and sustaining a safe, welcoming, diverse, and inclusive environment. Bringing together people whose cultural and intellectual backgrounds equip them to look at a problem from different viewpoints is key to collaboration and innovation.

Scholarship & Mentorship
We collaborate with postdoctoral appointees and staff to enrich the STEM pipeline by mentoring and providing scholarships to African-American youth who have a passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). These efforts help prepare the next generation to become leaders in STEM, while simultaneously building awareness around research opportunities.

AAA-ERG Scholarship
AAA-ERG offers annual scholarships https://blogs.anl.gov/aaa-erg/scholarships/ to promising Illinois high school students to help fund their STEM academic goals. The AAA-ERG Academic Scholarship awards needs-based scholarships in the amounts of $2,500, $1500 and $500 to high school students pursuing a college degree in a STEM-related field. Scholarship applicants must be US citizens, residents of the Chicagoland surrounding areas, and received first-year admittance to a college or university.

Your support can make a difference
Volunteering your time, energy, or money to help others doesn't just make the world better - it also makes you as a person better. Studies show that the very act of giving back to the community increases your happiness, health, and overall sense of well-being. Having a positive impact on someone else could help you change your outlook and attitude. Performing acts of kindness boosts your mood and ultimately can make you more positive.

Your support will aid in these students taking their first steps toward their STEM career path. Sadly, there are fewer of these types of stories for Black students who dream of science careers. The number of Blacks pursuing undergraduate degrees in engineering, the physical sciences, and mathematics is steadily declining.

That is why we are asking for your support. Will you help the Argonne African American Employee Resource Group (AAA-ERG) by contributing to our group's annual scholarship fund?

Thank you in advance for your support and for helping us achieve our goal.
