HELP NEEDED...going to Africa!

Hello Friends…
I need money.
That’s a weird way to open a mission trip letter.
If I were you, I would probably be thinking, “Heidi is going on a mission trip?” That’s a completely fair thought. I keep asking myself that too. I’m not the first person people think of when it comes to “mission”. I’m pretty selfish, pretty busy, pretty used to the comfort of my surroundings. Also, the thought of a 20 hour airplane flight just doesn’t seem fun. Plus, I owe a lot of people a lot of money that I have not paid back. In fact, you’re probably one I owe! I’ll pay it back…I promise!
I mean it’s easy to pray for far off places and far off people, but loving who you live and work with is a challenge. I’ve been trying to see my life as a mission field, not just this trip. And it’s been cool to see the way God has used this new approach to everything from the way I tip at restaurants to the way I treat people in traffic. But now, it’s time to take the things I’ve learned to a new longitude and latitude.
I’m going to Africa (Kenya) for 10 days November 10-19. Going wasn’t a hard decision. When it comes down to it, Jesus laid out a pretty simple religion for us, didn’t He? Love God, love others, and love ourselves. Nope, deciding to go was easy. Paying for it however, is a real challenge.
To be honest with you, I just don’t have $1.00 laying around….let alone $2,500 that it will take to get to Africa. I need a new passport, a Visa and my deposit was due months ago! My District is amazing…and sponsoring the trip. We’re going to Kenya Nazarene University and doing something with solar panels. I’ll probably help in the kitchen and keep people laughing…it’s what I do best. I will also observe, talk to people, see some animals and hopefully come back renewed, changed; who knows…maybe I won’t come back!
If you’d like to support me and mail a check directly to the district NMI treasurer you may do so at the following address: Marian Smith 700 NW Crosby Ave #180 Oak Harbor, WA 98277. Checks should be made out to WAPAC NMI make a notation in the menu line ANU TRIP /HEIDI ANDERSON
If for whatever reason the funds are not there when I need to make the final payment (end of August) I will return all your money – no strings!
