Affected by Western Wisconsin Flood

What Happened
On August 28, 2018, it was raining when Lloyd Tsilis left for work at 5:20 am. His cousin and roommate, Jordan Kerska, was asleep. Jordan woke to find water rising quickly in his room. Lloyd and Jordan’s home was filling with water from the flood which was quickly rising in the town of Leon, Wisconsin. Jordan grabbed his phone and called 911. He climbed onto the windowsill and waited, hoping that rescue would come in time. Fortunately, first responders from Ft. McCoy Emergency Rescue rescued Jordan before the flood waters overtook him.
The waters continued to rise, eventually covering the top of Jordan’s truck. The waters moved so swiftly and so forcefully that the trailer was pulled from its foundation.
Jordan is fortunate to be alive, but all of Jordan and Lloyd’s possessions are destroyed. Jordan and Lloyd have talked to the insurance company; and while insurance will cover some of the damage to the trailer and the truck itself, none of the contents of the home were covered by insurance. Jordan and Lloyd estimate that replacing all of their possessions will cost more than $10,000.
Military Veteran
Lloyd Tsilis is a military veteran. Lloyd Tsilis served in the U.S. Navy (active duty then reserves) from 2004 to 2008 and from 2011 to 2014.
