Our dad, Hickey Lee McCook, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 7, 2017 after a long illness. He did not suffer any pain, and he was comfortable when he passed. Our dad was a good man with a contagious laugh. He loved to tell stories about his life, and he told them with such animation that it felt as if you were there witnessing the action in real life. He gave advice to anyone who needed it and did his best to make sure that those around him were happy. He was a mechanic by trade and a proclaimed "Car Whisperer". If your car wouldn't start, or if you heard a funny clunking noise, he could diagnose the problem simply by leaning in and listening to the engine.
We want to thank you all for your kind words and thoughts during this difficult time. Hickey was and always will be a charismatic and positive soul who lit up every room that he entered. We are at a loss for words, and the world lost a great soul, but God definitely gained an angel.
In this time of heartache, it would be greatly appreciated if you could donate any amount of money. Every dollar counts. Proceeds raised will go towards Hickey's funeral arrangements, flowers, and cremation. If you're unable to donate money, you can still help us by sharing this campaign on your Facebook profile.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, the 14th of June at Pendergrass People's Mortuary in Smithville, Texas at 12PM. There will be a small reception afterwards, and we'll post the details about the reception once they're confirmed.
