Jess: I would like to open a Circus/AntiGravity Fitness/AcroYoga Space in the Blue Mountains,NSW and to do that, I need to be well trained in all of these arts. Sydney is two hours away and that's too far for a lot of individuals in the area to gain access to these kinds of classes, but the interest is high and I want to create the opportunity for us to have the same emerging recreational classes that not only strengthen and form art, but build trust in yourself and others, and get the awesome ability to fly!
Studies show that Circus Arts and Yoga have great benefits among youth today, who are entering a world filled with mental health problems and physical endemics such as depression, anxiety and obesity. These circus related practises can reduce stress, build strength mentally and physically as well as build up self confidence and trust in relationships. I would know- I didn't have an easy adolescence because of OCD and an eating disorder. It's not competitive and is achievable by all ages, genders and body shapes- circus celebrates individuality and how everyone can play a role to create a bigger picture. It's also massively fun so it's easy to come back to!
Yoga, Aerials, AntiGravity Fitness, AcroYoga and Rock Climbing have provided the PERFECT outlet for me, to keep me strong, calm and centred in my mind and body.
