In memory of Roy Lester

Donation protected

It is with deep sadness that we’re writing these words.

Roy Lester, former landlord of numerous public houses in Oxford including The Royal Standard, Bullnose Morris and The George sadly lost his battle with Covid19 and passed away on the January 27th 2021.

Roy, as many of you will know was a larger than life character who was kind, caring and a friend to many people who he would always help if he could.

Roy was a massive Oxford United fan and never intentionally missed a home game, holding the same season ticket seat in the Oxford Mail stand at Grenoble Road from its opening, in the 90s as landlord of The Standard he supported the club with numerous fundraising activities when the clubs very existence was threatened

Roy’s passing was unexpected and has come as a huge shock to the family, unfortunately Roy had no funeral provision so with the blessing of his family, including Wife, Glenis and stepchildren Natalie and Nick weve decided to set up this Go Fund Me page, where any money raised will be passed to Roys family to put towards funeral costs,.

There is no pressure for you to contribute. But if you would like to and are able to, it would be a lovely gesture and one that is appreciated by his family, no matter how big or small.

If you have any memories you’d like to share, then please write these in the comments.

Thank you.
