Who We Are, What We Do:

The AEFC of BPA was established in 1997 as a 501(c) (3) organization in New Jersey. The AEF chapter is

one of   nineteen other chapters   that are chartered by a national organization called the Black Pilots of America.

The aims and purposes of this Organization are:

§  To train youth to participate and advance in various types of employment within the field of aviation.

§  To stimulate and encourage broader job opportunities for under privileged youth in all phases of aviation.

§  To encourage youth to enter the field of aviation and to remain in school by showing films and lecturing in schools on opportunities in the field of aviation.

§  To organize and set up a school for such training.

§  To develop scholarships for youth who will partake in such training and development.

§  To acquire, own, hold, sell, lease, pledge, mortgage or otherwise dispose of any property, real or personal, necessary to the operation of the Organization.

Who We Are:

The membership Dr. A. E. Forsythe Chapter of the BPA is a group of aviation enthusiasts that focus on spreading the word and the experience of flying with youth and adults. This chapter has 33 members. 22 of the members are student or licensed pilots. The membership backgrounds: doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, self-employed, I T professionals, housewives, airline pilots, students and those who want to volunteer to give back to the community.

Past Activities:

Locally, we participate in career days at the schools, open houses, and mentoring of the student members. We partner with various organizations that target youth from all walks of life to expose them to aviation and encourage them to consider pursuing aviation related careers.

Les Morris Summer Flight Academy:

This is a two week program that is held annually in Houston, TX. The academy provides ground training and flight lessons for 12 -16 to teenagers. The AEF chapter has sponsored, on average, 1 student per year for the past 18 years, at the cost of $ 3500 per student.

The Donations will help us sponsor students that are
interested in a career in aviation and willing to participate but not financially able to attend the SFA.

Funds are needed in March of each year in order to register the students for the academy after they meet
certain requirements to attend the SFA.
