Equine Assisted Learning Centre

Donation protected

I am currently running a small Equine Assisted Learning centre near Barossa, South Australia. In particular, I am dealing with the learning difficulties of school students, and at-risk youth and adults in the district, and the work is having some outstanding beneficial effects.  But the school is struggling financially, has no secure base, and I have been subsidising this work from my own funds for some years. I need to be able to accept more students, train assistants, secure our tenure here, and much more if we are to continue and expand this very much appreciated work.

I have been teaching equestrians for many years. I have been practicing Equine Assisted Learning for many years, both in conjunction with professional medicos and also directly with parents and carers. I am currently studying teaching and my studies and work have a special view towards Autistic Spectrum students.. where we have seen some really profound results. But there are so many more kids out there who need this service, and by expanding the financial base of the school I will have more time to concentrate on direct teaching, and hence, be able to reach more students.

Funds raised will be used on property rental, horse feed and tack, promotional materials, and, ideally, a covered and sheltered and level area where we can work.

We need to raise funds as soon as possible, as there are pressing rental issues that, if not soon addressed, will see this valuable school being forced to close.

If we can raise these funds.. we will be able to continue for at least another year, during which time we can consolidate our structure and provide a stronger service to the local district.  My students generally come from struggling families, where most parents are working at least two or three part-time jobs to survive, and our fees are kept low to help cater for this.  Our horses include rescues, and are trained and in training specifically to aid the work in progress.  Children with diagnosed and undiagnosed ASD symptoms are often either at-risk, or outside the State Educational system, and Equine Assisted Learning has been found to be beneficial in many of these cases.

I look forward greatly to your support, and I thank you for taking the time to read and absorb this message.
