Adelyn James CDH Fighter

In 2014 when Jimmy & Ally Sanchez got pregnant with their first born, Jaxson, they never expected to receive the devastating diagnosis of CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia). Upon research, they realized that this birth defect has poor prognosis of 50% survival rate. When they found Dr David Kays, who at the time was at Shands / University of Florida, and saw that his survival rate was in the mid to high 90%, they sold their house, left their possessions, and relocated for the best care.

Thankfully, though Jaxson had a rough start, they were able to bring him home, he is healthy and thriving and recently celebrated his fourth birthday.

What Jimmy and Ally never expected was to hear the same diagnosis once again. This time, they have two little ones at home, a home with a mortgage, a job that Jimmy must continue at, day to day expenses on top of the medical expenses that have already began piling up.

As you can imagine, they are trying to do what they can to not only save their little baby Adelyn and get her the best care, but also financially take on the burden to do so while trying to maintain normalcy for their two other kids.

WHAT IS CDH: CDH is when the diaphragm fails to form in early gestational development and the hernia, or hole in the diaphragm, allows for abdominal organs to migrate in the thoracic cavity inhibiting lung growth and pushing the heart over.

Although CDH is a serious birth defect, requiring intervention immediately upon birth, they are trusting God and believe that He is bigger than CDH. They also have a team of medical professionals that have dedicated their careers to CDH. Their survival rates are almost double the national average of 50%.

This is why Jimmy and Ally will do whatever they can to make sure their daughter Adelyn receives the best care by the same physician, but this time in St Petersburg, Florida at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. They will be relocating at the beginning of September, with scheduled csection of 10/14 and are looking at a 5-10 week stay in the ICU.

We covet all your prayers for them during this difficult time, but also appreciate any donation that you can make so that they can receive the best care while continuing to provide for their family.
