This beautiful fun loving, cheeky little girl looks the picture of health BUT the sad reality is very different. Last year Adeline’s bone marrow transplant fell through. Heartbreakingly again last week her second transplant was cancelled. The donor gave cells but unfortunately it was not the quantity needed for the transplant. The plan now is to ask the previous donor that fell through or to find another match imminently! Adeline has blood transfusions fortnightly, both red blood and platelets, which keep her alive. Potentially this can cause organ failure and has other associated risks. You are all probably wondering what this has to do with me. Well I have a gorgeous granddaughter, Harleigh, the same age as Adeline, 4 years old. I fell upon Addie’s story unintentionally one day and instantly loved her big brown eyes and feisty character. She really is a Superstar and during her entire journey is always dressing up, singing and smiling. She is a ray of sunshine especially in the current climate we all find ourselves in.
There is no value we can put on the mental health and well being of Steph and Jordan, Adeline’s parents, but any financial help would mean they can focus all of their attention on supporting Adeline. I forgot to mention Adeline has younger twin siblings, Josie and Jude too. Adorable!
