Adelante Student Voices 2019 Scholarship Fund

ADELANTE Student Voices (ASV) was founded in the fall of 2015 with the goal of supporting undocumented students in upstate New York on their unique journeys to higher education, while simultaneously building their self-advocacy so that they can increase educational opportunities and advance social justice within their communities. Each year ASV proudly hosts a 10-day summer overnight program for students, informing them about opportunities for higher education by implementing a series of workshops, panel discussions, college tours, and one-on-one sessions that develop a personalized  plan of action to ensure their success.


Many of our students have been accepted to and are currently attending college. We are pleased to have awarded FIVE scholarships to Adelante Student Voices members  funded by GoFundMe and the other three by donors in 2018 and hope to do the same in 2019 with your help! These scholarships have the potential to relieve some of the unique financial burdens that undocumented students and their families face. Did you know that undocumented students cannot legally receive federally funded financial aid, such as grants, loans, or work-study money?


While we hope that legislation under the NYS Dream Act will provide undocumented students with greater access to pursuing higher education, there are still many barriers in place that prevent these students from achieving their full academic potential.
