The Benny Summerlin Family

My inspiring grandfather got sick for his first time last November just before Thanksgiving 2013. He fell I'll with what they said was Phnemonia. Was admitted into St. Mary's early December 2013. The doctors said he was showing all the signs for that hybrid H1N1 but tested negative.

From December to February he laid nearly lifeless in a hospital bed needing machines to do everything for him except pump his heart. That he could do on his own. In February we were told my pawpaw may be brain dead & that the doctors would be performing multiple tests and scans to confirm their conclusion. Results came back negative...but still he could not move, talk, eat, breath on his own.

Shortly after, he began to open and close his eyes to stare off into nothing. He would shake his head back and forth at times. And we would see tears coming from his eyes so we knew my paw paw was still in there! He fought so hard! After 2 separate hospital transfers after St. Mary's, my pawpaw got to go home in late may. He really is a a miracle and an example of faith and prayer. He still needs oxygen every now and then. Has a feeding tube going into his stomachs but is able to eat many pureed foods.AND is using his walker to walk from his recliner to his front door. As well as moves himself around in his wheel chair. He is talking, has a therapist for speech and physical strength come a few times a week. As well as a nurse that cones to check on him during the day.

We are all proud, shocked, and thankful that he has recovered ed to the state he is in today. Mostly we are inspired by him. After all he went through, he still has a positive mind! I am not sure if I would be able to go through all he has. Now that he is at home, unable to work, he manages his company Rumm Plumbing from the sidelines and does the best he can. His #1 priority his himself, his wife, and their dog , Candy. As well as their lovely daughters Amanda and Monica & their 8 grand children and 1 great grand baby. Please help us to help him and his family pay off this unfortunate and sudden debt! Anything from $0.20 to $200.00 is going to help this family!!!
